Is this dating app real or fake?

New dating apps appear on the Play Store every week, and some are chat-for-money apps in disguise. Here's what we found about the ones people ask about most, and how to check any app yourself.

Quick answer

QuackQuack, TrulyMadly, Aisle, Tinder, Bumble, Hinge and OkCupid are real apps run by known companies, though every app has some fake profiles. For Truebonder, Spiee and Lovelies we couldn't find an official listing or company details, and recent reviews of Nymph report fake profiles and payment problems. Before paying any app, check the developer, recent reviews and how it charges you.

How to check any dating app before you sign up

  • Developer name. On the App Store or Play Store, tap the developer. A real company has other details, a website and a privacy policy.
  • Ratings and reviews. Thousands of ratings over years is a good sign. Read the newest 1-star reviews: "all fake profiles" or "took money" repeated many times is a warning.
  • How it makes money. Normal apps sell subscriptions. Apps that charge coins per message or per minute of a call with "hosts" are chat-for-money apps, not dating apps.
  • Who messages you first. If several attractive profiles message you within minutes of joining, they are often fake or paid.
  • Company and contact. Search the company name with "MCA" or look for a registered address and grievance officer on the website.
  • Permissions. A dating app doesn't need your contacts or SMS. Deny anything that isn't needed.
Red flags

Signs a dating app or profile is a scam

  • Asks you to pay before you can see or message any real person.
  • Promises "girls online near you now" or "guaranteed date".
  • A match moves you to WhatsApp fast, then asks for money, gifts, OTPs or an "investment".
  • Video calls that start explicit quickly, followed by threats: that's sextortion. Don't pay; report on 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.

We couldn't find an official App Store India listing, company details or independent coverage for these names when we checked in November 2026. That doesn't prove they're fake, but you should run the checks on this page before signing up or paying.
